The organisation of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, whose 28th edition will take place from 26 September to 4 October 2026, is built on proven experience and constant attention to detail. Each year, the teams of the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez, under the presidency of Pierre Roinson, continue to raise organisational standards to provide crews with exceptional racing and hospitality conditions, both ashore and on the water. This intensive preparation is carried out in close collaboration with the event’s partners and in consultation with the town of Saint-Tropez.
Courses this year will feature enhanced safety and a greater variety. The event will launch around twenty starts daily for more than 250 yachts, ranging from century-old classics to the latest-generation prototypes. According to Principal Race Officer Georges Kohrel, the 2026 edition will include additional geodynamic buoys to diversify the courses, aiming to eliminate out-and-back courses where fleets cross paths. The starting lines for the Maxis will be positioned outside of the windward-leeward course to improve safety. Furthermore, race courses will now be announced only on the morning of racing to adapt closely to weather conditions, ensuring the racing intensity can be increased if necessary.
The P Class yachts will be spotlighted during the 20th anniversary of the Rolex Trophy. This prestigious award will be given for the first time to the best-performing P Class yacht, which are approximately 16-metre gaff cutters originally built on the east coast of the United States. Four P Class yachts, including the recently restored Joyant, will compete in this year’s event, all vying for recognition in yachting history.
Maxis have played a significant role in the history of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, having been recognised as a dedicated class since La Nioulargue in 1983. The Maxi owners, led by the International Maxi Association’s new President Maurits van Oranje-Nassau, regard this event as a highlight of their racing season. The top-performing Maxi yacht will again be honoured with the Edmond de Rothschild Trophy, continuing the legacy of excellence in yacht racing.
The schedule for the 2026 Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez includes registration confirmations on 26 and 27 September, followed by racing for Maxis and Moderns from 28 September. The Rolex Trophy will feature races for Classics on 29 September. The event will continue with various races culminating in prize-giving ceremonies on 3 and 4 October for all categories, including the prestigious BMW Trophy.
As always, the event is supported by major partners like Rolex and BMW, along with various privileged and associated partners, ensuring its status as one of the premier sailing events worldwide.
