28th Block Island Race Week

The 28th Edition of the famed Storm Trysail Club Block Island Race Week expects 150 boats, and the number of racing formats has been expanded to attract an even wider array of yachts; ranging from Grand Prix teams to family-friendly cruising boats.

Besides the usual Windward/Leeward racing, there will be Pursuit-start and ‘Solent-Style’ racing formats too.

Multihull Racing, Non-Spinnaker, IRC, ORC and PHRF are returning, along with a new, innovative format – Plus One. Plus One allows the crew be one person larger than the first digit of hull-length (30-39’ = 4 crew, 40 – 49’ = 5 crew, etc.) and fills a sweet spot between double-handing and fully crewed racing, lowering costs and the need for crew.

As always, there will be tent parties, shore-side activities, and all the fine dining, watering holes, beaches, and sights that Block Island has to offer. Over a thousand sailors, plus their families, attend this very popular regatta.

Storm Trysail Club Block Island Race Week will offer 4 days of racing and is bringing back the popular lay day (if weather permits). The highlight of the regatta is the Around Block Island Race in which the entire fleet circumnavigates the beautiful resort island off the coast of Rhode Island.
