Tudor Team Alinghi has announced the addition of Italian helmsman Francesco Bruni to its sailing team for the 38th America’s Cup scheduled in Naples for 2027. Bruni, who previously sailed for Luna Rossa, will take on the roles of helmsman and skipper. A highly accomplished sailor, Bruni is a seven-time world champion in various classes and led Luna Rossa in the 2024 America’s Cup in Barcelona before transitioning to a coaching position with the team.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Bruni stated, “I’m truly excited to join Tudor Team Alinghi, one of the iconic names of the America’s Cup. I’m eager to return to the helm and contribute to the Team’s performance, and I’d like to thank Luna Rossa for allowing me to make this move. Many of my new teammates are people I know well and greatly respect, and I’m keen to start working with them.”
Ernesto Bertarelli, owner of Tudor Team Alinghi, expressed gratitude to Luna Rossa for facilitating Bruni’s transfer, noting his exceptional talent and the positive energy he brings to the team. Bruni is set to relocate to Naples, where the team will begin sailing their AC75, BoatOne, in December, preparing for the upcoming competition.
