Racing postponed at Lysekil Women's Match Race

Gale force winds are giving the organizers of the Lysekil Women’s Match, the 2nd event on the 2016 WIM Series, a headache. Tuesday’s scheduled start of the round-robin had to be postponed until Wednesday morning:
“Safety is always our highest priority. With too much wind the risk for boat damage or crew injuries gets higher, so today’s call to postpone was an easy one” says Anna Holmdahl White, event project leader.

Winds as strong as during Monday and Tuesday are not very common on the Swedish west coast in early August. In Lysekil Women’s Match a whole day of racing has been lost only once before, since the premiere in 2004:
“Mother Nature doesn’t always want to cooperate, but the forecast looks hopeful for the rest of the week and we will work hard to get the complete schedule in” WIM Series manager Liz Baylis comments.
