Long Beach, CA – 14 July, 2026 – Long Beach showcased exceptional racing conditions as more than 100 top Olympic windsurfers and kiteboarders competed in the 2026 Long Beach Olympic Classes Regatta (LBOCR). This regatta serves as the concluding stop of the 2026 Sailing Grand Slam, attracting an elite field eager to gain experience on the future LA28 Olympic racecourse.
“Today’s racing highlighted Southern California’s best, with steady afternoon sea breezes providing a challenging test of athletes’ resilience, tactical decision-making, and boat-handling skills,” said Fred Hagedorn, USA Director of the Sailing Grand Slam.
The sight of high-speed Formula Kites soaring alongside the iQFOiL windsurfers off Belmont Shore and the Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier offered spectators a glimpse of the excitement expected during the LA28 Olympic Games, reaffirming Long Beach’s status as a premier Olympic sailing venue.
As the regatta progresses, competition intensifies across all four Olympic fleets.
