Australian Sailing has announced Noakes Group as its new Official Youth Sailing Partner, committing to the development of young sailors across Australia. This partnership will support grassroots participation and emerging talent up to national youth teams competing internationally.
As part of this initiative, Noakes Group will be the naming partner for vital youth programs, including the Noakes Group Australian Sailing Youth Squad and the Noakes Group Australian Youth Sailing World Championships Team.
Additionally, the partnership introduces the Noakes Group Female Youth Sailor of the Year and Male Youth Sailor of the Year Awards, replacing the previous singular award category. The inaugural winners will be announced this year, with the new categories implemented in the State Awards by 2027.
This announcement reflects Australian Sailing’s dedication to enhancing youth sailing and establishing a more connected system for young sailors nationwide. The collaboration with Noakes Group will provide vital resources, including the newly formed Australian Sailing Youth Pathways Team and a dedicated Youth Pathways Coach to strengthen relationships between clubs, classes, coaches, and national programs.
Australian Sailing CEO Malcolm Page expressed that this partnership signifies a long-term commitment to the sport’s future, stating that young sailors are essential for the growth of sailing in Australia. He emphasised the importance of providing the necessary support and opportunities for these young athletes.
Noakes Group Managing Director Sean Langman also commented on the partnership, highlighting the need to invest in the next generation of sailors and ensure they have the opportunity to grow within the sport.
From club-level training to international competitions, this partnership aims to support young sailors at every stage of their development, marking a significant step in Australian Sailing’s commitment to youth development and the future of sailing in Australia.
