  • De Arce Sanchez and Rattotti are crowned GWA Wingfoil Big Air World Champions
  • Eighteen men and 12 women were competing in the new Big Air format, where the judging criteria was 80% height and 20% technical difficulty.
  • Rattotti had the highest jump of 11.9 meters in the Big Air Discipline.

BIG AIR MEN’S FINALS

The battle to become the first GWA Wingfoil Big Air World Champions at the iconic spot of Gran Canaria’s Pozo Izquierdo in perfect, cranking winds was one for the ages.

Rattotti showcased his fine form today, soaring to the top of the height leaderboard with an impressive 11.2-meter jump. Throughout the finals, he continued his spectacular performance, earning an overall score of 18.27. Not only did Rattotti secure his first-ever podium finish, but he also made history as the first-ever GWA Wingfoil Big Air World Champion.

BIG AIR WOMEN’S FINALS

The women persevered through extremely tough conditions today, leading to an incredibly tight final. While Nia Suardiaz aimed for the win, Mar de Arce Sanchez proved unstoppable in the challenging conditions, securing victory by a mere fraction of a point. She was rightfully crowned the GWA Wingfoil Big Air World Champion 2023.

“I feel amazing. It was such a great performance out there. It is super, super windy and super big waves. I still can’t realize what just happened yet, I am very happy. It was amazing, congratulations to all the other riders too.” – Mar de Arce Sanchez said.
