The following information has been provided by the CYCA following the tragic sinking of the yacht PriceWaterhouseCoopers during the Flinders Islet race last weekend:
The families of Andrew Short and Sally Gordon wish to advise that those who would like to help celebrate the lives of Andrew (Shorty) and Sally (Sal) are invited to do so at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA), 1 New Beach Road, Darling Point, on Tuesday 20 October from 2.00pm onwards. The entire Club will be opened to family and friends attending the Celebration.
It is the wish of Sally's family that she is laid to rest privately, with only her family in attendance, on Friday October 16. Andrew Short's family will lay Andrew to rest at St. Mary's Cathedral, St Mary's Road (adjacent to Hyde Park), Sydney, on Tuesday 20 October, at 10.30am. His friends are welcome to come and pay their respects.
As a mark of respect, the CYCA burgee will be flown at half-mast on Friday October 16 and on Tuesday October 20.
For those who cannot attend, but would like to send tributes to Andrew and Sally, you may do so to by sending an email to email@example.com and they will be read out at the Celebration.
Sally and Andrew's family have requested that in lieu of floral tributes they would be most grateful if such gestures be directed as donations to the CYCA SOLAS Trusts or CYCA Youth Sailing Ac ademy. For further details on how to make a donation please contact Nina McKinnon via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
