The SailGP Championship intensifies as Halifax prepares for a weekend filled with dramatic racing. The unpredictable Atlantic swells and coastal breezes will set a challenging stage, making every point crucial as the season approaches its midpoint.
The Bonds Flying Roos, led by driver Tom Slingsby, are currently 11 points ahead of second-place Emirates GBR. With three consecutive victories, they are keen to extend their dominance in Halifax and increase their lead in the overall standings.
The NorthStar SailGP Team, under the leadership of Giles Scott and local hero Billy Gooderham, will enjoy the support of a home crowd. They aim to build on their recent performance, having reached their first event final of the season in New York.
The Black Foils return after a four-month hiatus due to damage from a high-speed crash in Auckland. With driver Peter Burling at the helm, they are eager to prove themselves as a formidable competitor once again.
Following a recent incident in New York involving the U.S., Red Bull Italy, and Mubadala Brazil, the status of multiple F50s remains uncertain. SailGP’s technical teams are working diligently to ensure the fleet is race-ready, with final confirmations expected at the start of the weekend’s racing.
