Entries are now open for the 2026 Knest Modular Homes Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race, marking the 20th running of this iconic Tasmanian offshore sailing event.
Hosted by the Derwent Sailing Squadron in collaboration with the Tamar Yacht Club, the race has become a staple of the Tasmanian sailing calendar, drawing competitors from seasoned offshore sailors to those attempting their first offshore experience.
This milestone year is celebrated with Knest Modular Homes as the naming rights partner for the 20th edition. Their vision aims to make quality housing accessible to more Tasmanians, which resonates with the race’s legacy of providing an affordable and achievable pathway into offshore racing.
Brett Cooper, Director of Knest Modular Homes, expressed pride in partnering with an event that embodies more than just competition. He noted that both home ownership and participation in sailing create opportunities for individuals to engage and belong to a larger community.
Derwent Sailing Squadron Commodore, Dr. Steve Chau, highlighted the significance of reaching the 20-year mark for an event that has become integral to Tasmania’s offshore racing scene. He acknowledged the achievements of volunteers, competitors, sponsors, and the host clubs that have supported the event.
Race Director Ron Bugg remarked on the anniversary as a moment to recognise the collective efforts of all who have contributed to the race’s history over the past two decades. He affirmed that the race continues to evolve while remaining distinctly Tasmanian, expressing gratitude for Knest Modular Homes’ involvement.
