The ‘Road to Naples 2027’ begins in Cagliari with the opening Preliminary Regatta of the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup scheduled from 21st to 24th May 2026. This event marks the first gathering of teams since the 37th America’s Cup in Barcelona, featuring a weekend packed with intense fleet racing, culminating in a decisive winner-takes-all match race.
Fans can look forward to an action-packed schedule, with four fleet races on Friday 22nd May, followed by four more on Saturday, and three races on the final day of Sunday 24th May, leading to the showdown between the top two teams.
Each participating team will field two AC40s, with one as the primary crew and the other featuring a mix of Youth and Women sailors, highlighting an exciting opportunity for emerging talent to shine.
The events are held under full one-design specifications, ensuring that racing skill is prioritised over technical advancements. As demonstrated in previous America’s Cups, the fleet racing framework allows for thrilling, dynamic competition.
Cagliari, a vibrant city established against a stunning coastal backdrop, will again serve as a primary venue. The racing will take place close to the shoreline in specially designated areas that are easily accessible for spectators.
A Race Village will enhance the fan experience with live entertainment, exhibits, and an official merchandise store, all complemented by various food and beverage options. Additionally, an AC Viewing Promenade will provide excellent views of the races and interactive sailing activities for the public.
Teams are set to arrive in Cagliari by 5th May to prepare their bases at the Military Port. Official practice for the teams will take place from 16th to 20th May, culminating in a press conference on 21st May and an opening ceremony in the Race Village that same evening.
Mark your calendars for May 21-24, 2026, and prepare for a remarkable start to the journey towards the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup in Naples.
