Some boats take sailors to the top. Others keep calling them back.
Anne-Marie Rindom is the latest Olympic medallist to answer that call. The Danish sailor, who won bronze at Rio 2016, gold at Tokyo 2020, and silver at Paris 2024, is returning to the ILCA 6 with her sights set on Los Angeles 2028. After two years away from the Danish national team and a new chapter in her life as a mother, she is ready to pursue another Olympic campaign.
Asked what draws her back to the class, Rindom points first to the people around her.
“It’s the amazing environment and the people, particularly on the Danish team. We have a really good cooperation, and it’s a lot of fun to be part of. Then there’s the competition in the ILCA: so many boats. That’s what I love about the class.”
Her decision echoes that of Ireland’s Annalise Murphy, the Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist, who returned to ILCA racing after five years away from the class, winning the Irish National Championships and reigniting her competitive ambitions.
