Master Lock Comanche took line honours in the 80th Rolex Sydney Hobart! This was the first across the line victory for current custodians Matt Allen (3 x overall winner with Ichi Ban) & James Mayo (prior line honours & overall winner on Sovereign). The boat last won Line Honours in 2022 as Andoo Comanche with Herman Winning, in 2019 and 2017 (also the current race record) with prior owners Jim Cooney & Samantha Grant, and for the first time in 2015 with original owners Jim & Kristy Clark.

Next to cross the line was LawConnect, even though they nursed a stack of breakages across the line, and then Scallywag.
Following Byron Eckhart’s 88 footer, Lucky, was the new Palm Beach XI. With Mark Richards on the helm, the silver bullet under its new alias slipped into the finish just as the sun was setting behind Mt. Wellington.

The Derwent then shut down, and Celestial V70 eventually managed to finish at 05:14am this morning, to potentially secure a good position on IRC. The Double Handed fleet is looking strong at the moment, but there is still a long way to go.
With 34 retirements, and five boats now finished the race, there are 88 still racing. It will be a busy few days!
