New race to celebrate 50 years since Sir Robin Knox-Johnston circumnavigation

In celebration of Sir Robin Knox-Johnston’s historic 1968 non-stop, world first, solo circumnavigation of the globe, in the Sunday Times Golden Globe yacht race, a new Golden Globe Race will be staged on it’s 50th Anniversary, in 2018.

Entry is by invitation only, for sailors over 18 years at the start. Entrants must show prior ocean sailing experience of at least 8,000 miles and another 2000 miles solo, in any boat, by 1st March 2018.

The aims and objectives of this Golden Globe Race are: To create a unique “RETRO” non-stop solo around the world yacht race, in the image of the original Sunday Times “Golden Globe” that draws sailors back to the age of “one sailor, one boat” facing the great oceans of the world.
