2026 IQfoil World Championships – Day 2

The 2026 MUSTO iQFOiL World Championships kicked off in Weymouth and Portland with strong winds challenging the competitors. On the first day, Tamar Steinberg (ISR) and Luuc van Opzeeland (NED) emerged as leaders in the women’s and men’s fleets respectively.

Steinberg showcased her skill by winning four consecutive races, establishing a solid lead in the women’s standings. Following her in second place is Stella Bilger (AUS) with Britain’s Islay Watson (GBR) in third. The event has highlighted Steinberg’s dominance, continuing her streak from previous competitions.

In the men’s fleet, van Opzeeland started strong but faced tough competition. The standings shifted as Noah Lyons (USA) delivered an impressive performance, winning two out of four races on Day 2, propelling him to the overall lead. Nicolas Goyard (FRA) moved into second place while van Opzeeland slipped to third.

The competition featured four Course Races, with varying conditions testing the athletes’ skills in speed, control, and tactical decision-making. This event marks an essential stage in the Qualification Series, with more races scheduled as the championship progresses.

As the event continues, the atmosphere remains competitive, with athletes keen to maintain or improve their standings. The diverse sailing conditions of Weymouth and Portland are expected to shape the outcomes as the Championships advance.
