Cumberland Charter Yachts celebrate 30 years but you get the present

How does a charter company celebrate its 30th birthday? For Cumberland Charter Yachts the answer is to give away free hampers with every charter.

How quickly time has passed for Terry Kemp and the crew at CCY. Little did he know back then Cumberland would be introducing catamarans to the Whitsundays. To celebrate they are providing a hamper to people who charter one of its yachts during the birthday month of June.

Throughout 2015 they will also launch other great offers and birthday specials inviting you to celebrate with them. Share your holiday memories, your stories and enjoy birthday features at its Cumberland community pages via Facebook, Google Plus, Pintrest, Instagram and Linkedin.

A Leopard 38 catamaran, Mary Ann, has also been added to the fleet with its performance and comfort and plenty of outdoor space to capitalise on sailing in the warm breezes of the Whitsundays.

Mary Ann accommodates a maximum of ten passengers, including four double berths and two bathrooms.

Cumberland starting bareboat chartering of catamarans in the Whitsundays in 1985 and is now celebrating 30 years of operation. In 1995 CCY took delivery of 1.2 million dollars worth of new catamarans. By 1998 CCY had twelve sailing catamarans available for charter.

The selection of catamarans available is a mix to provide for every client, including: Leopards, Tasman, Seawind 1000 and 11160; plus Lightwaves, Perrys and Fountaine Pajot.

1998 also saw public moorings being situated in several of the sensitive sites within the marine park. Stonehaven, Blue Pearl and Butterfly Bay were made accessible for all and ensured the preservation of these spots.

By the turn of the century CCY were offering free area briefs and a free night stay at Hamilton Island marina. By 2004 charterers could book online at the website. Eleven years on you can check availability, get a quote and book online, even from your mobile phone. Plus CCY provides charterers a dedicated online page to plan and store all their holiday details.

Terry Kemp is still at the helm of the company he started back in 1985.
