Beach Ball takes honours on first day of Sail Paradise

With the 2018 Queensland Yachting Championships up for grabs, BEACH BALL, skippered by Bradley Ginnivian from Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron currently leads the fleet today going into day two of the 2018 Bartercard Sail Paradise Series.

Forty-two competitors took to the start line for day one in the 2018 Bartercard Sail Paradise Regatta. Light winds of less than 5 knots and shifting breezes brought postponement to the day's first race. Racing commenced with an increased breeze of 7 knots continuing upwards of 11. Wind predictions of 12 plus knots are expected with nine divisions set to take to the course today.

Glenn Burrell’s Wildflower 2 currently leads in PHS division 1 with David Chadkirk’s Cyclone closely behind in second place.

John Kearney in Aqueous Humour is leading the Queensland AMS State Championships and Graham Sherring in Retuned leading the Queensland Australian Sports Boats Championships.

“Hosting three state titles within the regatta has brought added excitement and enormous competition to the fleet, after day one it is still anyone’s game, and we are very much looking forward to following the result changes each day,” said Southport Yacht Club Commodore, Kerry Noyes.

Southport Yacht Club will host an open house day today, Sunday 7th January, with a public invitation to view the yachts on the Club’s 300 berth private marina.
