A total of 170 yachts have gathered in Porto Cervo for the 23rd edition of the Rolex Swan Cup, a record fleet that includes the very first Swan ever built as well as the latest Swan 128 and Swan 80 designs. Racing commences on 16 September and concludes on 19 September 2026.
As the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup concluded, the quays of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda buzzed with the arrival of this impressive fleet, which is a fitting tribute to the 60th anniversary of Nautor Swan’s foundation. The celebration commenced with the “Dance of the Swans,” where all 170 yachts sailed in formation around the Isola dei Monaci, a memorable sight dedicated to the late sailing photographer Carlo Borlenghi.
The yachts participating span the entire history of Nautor Swan, from the Swan 36-001, Tarantella, to the latest Swan models. Notable entries include Giuseppe Puttini’s Shirlaf and Lunz am Meer, reflecting the diverse lineage of the Swan fleet.
The competition features various classes, including the ClubSwan 50, ClubSwan 43, and others, with ORC ratings for additional classes. The Swan Maxi class consists of yachts 60 feet and above, split into Maxi and Mini Maxi categories. The event will test the skills of the crews, especially with forecasted winds that may challenge them during the Islands Race on 17 September.
Prominent names in sailing are among the competitors, including Paul Cayard, who will serve as tactician for the ClubSwan 50 Cuordileone. The presence of these accomplished sailors adds an exciting layer to the competition.
Commodore Andrea Recordati expressed enthusiasm about welcoming such a record-breaking fleet, highlighting the event’s significance as it showcases the rich history and future of Nautor Swan yachts. The event promises to blend competition with camaraderie, celebrating the unique spirit of the Swan community.
