Engadinwing WingFoil Racing World Cup – Switzerland

The 2026 Ensis ENGADINWING WingFoil Racing World Cup Switzerland reached a breathtaking conclusion on Sunday on Lake Silvaplana, proving that in high-stakes foiling, it is never over until the final reach. The elusive Maloja thermal wind finally roared to life shortly before 16:00, allowing for a dramatic Medal Series that saw a stunning leaderboard overhaul in the men’s fleet and a heroic title defense in the women’s.

In the men’s Medal Series, a high-speed collision marred the Quarter Final that involved Alberto Citzia (ESP) and Thomas Proust (FRA). The incident led to Proust’s disqualification, allowing Sean Herbert (NZL) and Michele Capitani (ITA) to progress. The Semi Final saw Julien Rattotti (FRA) and Kamil Manowiecki (POL) assert their dominance, leading to a Grand Final showdown against Italians Alessandro Tomasi and Francesco Cappuzzo. A collision on the first upwind during the Grand Final shattered the Italians’ hopes, allowing Manowiecki to capitalise on their misfortune and secure the overall victory.

The battle for the remaining podium spots was decided by a tie-break, with Cappuzzo securing silver and Tomasi taking bronze. Rattotti, the 2026 Formula Wing European Champion, finished the event in fourth.

In the women’s fleet, Klara Chalupnikova (CZE) showcased her skills with a breakout performance, winning her Quarter Final and advancing through the Semi Final. However, the Grand Final was set for a showdown between Vaina Picot (FRA) and Maddalena Spanu (ITA). Despite Picot entering the Medal Series with a strong lead, she fell off her foil during a critical moment, allowing Spanu to seize the opportunity and win the race, marking her first victory of the 2026 World Cup Series. Picot finished second, followed by Yana Li (CHN) and Chalupnikova in third and fourth respectively.

Looking ahead, the wingfoiling community will shift focus to the upcoming 2026 Formula Wing Youth and WingFoil Open Masters World Championships, commencing tomorrow in Silvaplana, with racing scheduled to begin on Monday afternoon and concluding on June 26.
