Ambrogio Beccaria: “I never told myself that I could win. After 24 hours, I was not far from saying to myself: I’m stopping, I can’t go north without a pilot, I don’t have confidence. And then little by little, all the problems I had, I managed to overcome them. I gained confidence in the boat and in myself. History was written little by little. Never in my life did I think I would be able to make up 200 miles. But in sailing, there is always a small part of success. There, this finish is beautiful all the same. And when you see that the opportunity is there, you forget everything, you forget all the pain, all the suffering, and you just do what you love: fight.”

“We went very far north, and at one point we felt like we were getting closer to the end of the world. There was a kind of strange climate, we could hardly see anything, we didn’t really know where we were. The cold was also quite intense. But it was like a kind of dream that never ends, it lasted more than two days, this bit of a weird time… We had waves of more than 3.5 metres twice in the race. It gave me a lot of confidence in this boat.”

Final Result is waiting for the jury’s validation.
