21st celebrations at 2026 Sydney Harbour Regatta

Everyone loves a good 21st birthday bash, so get set to join in by entering the 2026 Nautilus Marine Insurance Sydney Harbour Regatta, as the event celebrates its 21st anniversary on the weekend of 7 and 8 March.

Online entry is open and the Notice of Race is available for the largest keelboat regatta in NSW, attracting boats from NSW and interstate for the first of the autumn regattas.

Ian Box, Special Events Chair for organiser Middle Harbour Yacht Club, welcoming Nautilus Marine Insurance for a fourth year as Naming Rights Partner for the Sydney Harbour Regatta, stated, “Our partnership with Nautilus Marine continues to strengthen and is highly regarded and valued.”

Additionally, Yachting Holidays has come on board as a major sponsor, offering one lucky competitor the chance to sail the Greek Islands, while Zhik and Kieser continue their valued support of the event.

A new addition for 2026 is the Super Cruiser Racer Group, featuring impressive entries such as Caol Ila, Odin, and Xanthus. Racing will be tailored to suit, including two inshore-offshore races on the first day, followed by an offshore passage race on Sunday alongside the Super 50 (TP52) fleet.

The Sydney 38 class will contest its NSW Championship during the regatta with two offshore windward/leeward races on Saturday and three inshore races on Sunday.

David Hudson and Peter Byford’s Conspiracy has been a dominant force in the class, but was recently beaten by Challenge for the 2024 NSW Championship, only to reclaim the 2025 title from Mondo and Gusto.

Lisa Callaghan and Stephen Teudt’s Mondo are making strides, having recently topped the S38 One-Design class and placed second in Division 4 of the 2025 Rolex Sydney Hobart, looking to build on that success.

This year’s regatta will also include the Fareast 28R Australian Championships, Cavalier 28 NSW Championships, and the Super 30 Cup (Melges 32, Farr 30, etc.).

All are welcome, with various One-Design classes such as Etchells, J/70, and J/24, along with Performance Class (Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker divisions) and Classic Keelboats, ensuring a broad participation.

The event, which will navigate through seven course areas, is a substantial undertaking, facilitated by Middle Harbour Yacht Club and eight supporting clubs, under the supervision of Principal Race Officer Denis Thompson and dedicated volunteers.

Rob Aldis, Commodore of MHYC, anticipates around 180 boats racing in 17 divisions across Sydney Harbour and offshore near Sydney Heads, promising thrill for sailors and spectators alike.

Post-racing, attendees can look forward to a beach party planned on Saturday evening, ensuring a vibrant festival atmosphere for all participants. Entries close at 23.59 hours on Tuesday 3 March 2026, with additional entries subject to the Organising Authority’s discretion.
