Performance Cruising Yachts has been appointed as the exclusive Australian dealer for the full Hanse Yachts AG portfolio, including Hanse, Moody, Dehler, Sealine, Fjord and Ryck. We are proud to announce the addition of these 6 brands to our stable.
Performance Cruising Yachts is one of Australia’s most established and progressive sail & power yacht importers, with a long history of representing leading international brands and supporting owners through every stage of their sailing journey.
Founded by Olympian, circumnavigator and multiple Sydney to Hobart veteran Matt Hayes, the business has grown into a dynamic, young team of highly experienced sailors and boaters with deep technical knowledge across a wide range of vessel types. The team remains actively involved on the water, most recently racing in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, ensuring their advice and support is grounded in real-world experience, performance and seamanship.
While Performance Cruising Yachts has a long and respected heritage in sailing yachts, the team also brings extensive experience in modern powerboat ownership, handling and systems, making them ideally placed to represent the full Hanse Yachts Group portfolio including Hanse, Moody, Dehler, Sealine, Fjord and Ryck. This breadth allows the business to support clients moving between sailing and power, or entering boating for the first time, with confidence and clarity.
As part of its appointment as the exclusive Australian dealer for the Hanse Yachts Group, Performance Cruising Yachts has already committed to two highly specified stock yachts. A Hanse 410 will be delivered into a Sydney-based Yacht Share program, introducing new owners to the Hanse brand through structured ownership and professional management. A Hanse 460 will arrive as a premium stock model, offering Australian buyers immediate access to one of Hanse’s most popular and versatile designs.
A key strength of Performance Cruising Yachts is its close relationship with sister company Sydney By Sail, one of Australia’s largest and most respected on-water sailing and charter operations. Sydney By Sail acts as a support hub for new and existing owners across both sail and power, providing berthing, training, community engagement, and ongoing on-water support. This integrated structure gives owners a clear pathway from learning and chartering through to confident ownership.
Performance Cruising Yachts operates from multiple home bases in Sydney, supported by a national network of service and support hubs across Australia. This ensures consistent, high-quality support for owners of sailing yachts and powerboats alike, wherever they choose to cruise.
The company’s philosophy is simple – to be enablers. Performance Cruising Yachts is passionate about helping owners turn their boating ambitions into reality. With the addition of the full Hanse Yachts Group portfolio, the business now offers a true one-stop shop, whether a client is seeking a high-performance sailing yacht, a bluewater cruiser, or a modern, design-led powerboat.
Every outright purchase or Yacht Share ownership is supported by extensive complimentary training, including internationally recognised certifications such as the ICC, which is equally valuable for both sailing and powerboat owners. Training and support extend well beyond handover, with the team remaining actively involved as owners gain confidence and experience.
Drawing on Matt Hayes’ exceptional background as an Olympian, circumnavigator and more than 20-time Sydney to Hobart competitor, Performance Cruising Yachts brings a culture of seamanship, safety and professionalism that benefits all owners, regardless of propulsion. The focus is not just on selling boats, but on supporting owners long after they have cast off on new adventures.
Performance Cruising Yachts will make its first official appearance with the Hanse Yachts Group at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Hanse brands in Australia.
