When Sam Goodchild and Lois Berrehar on Macif Santé Prévoyance crossed the finish line early this Friday afternoon in Martinique, they secured third place in the IMOCA class, completing the podium for the 17th edition of The TRANSAT CAFÉ L’OR.
Jérémie Beyou and Morgan Lagravière on Charal took first place, finishing at 09:15 UTC. Beyou’s victory was particularly sweet as it marked a long-awaited return to the winner’s circle, while co-skipper Lagravière celebrated his third consecutive victory in the Coffee Route race.
Following closely, Francesca Clapcich (ITA/USA) and Will Harris (GBR) aboard 11th Hour Racing finished second at 15:02 UTC, 5 hours and 47 minutes after Charal. Clapcich and Harris executed a brilliant race, sticking to their pre-race strategy despite their first double-handed race together.
Goodchild and Berrehar finished third at 16:55:47 UTC, 7 hours and 40 minutes behind the leaders. They began the race with high expectations but couldn’t match the pace of the newly optimised Charal, ultimately finishing behind 11th Hour Racing.
Overall, this edition of The TRANSAT CAFÉ L’OR highlighted the competitive nature of the IMOCA class, with tight races and impressive performances showcasing the skill and tenacity of each duo.
