SVR-Lazartigue win ULTIM division of the TRANSAT CAFÉ L’OR

On Wednesday, November 5 at 22:13:58 local time (03:13:58 in Paris), Tom Laperche and Franck Cammas crossed the finish line first in the ULTIM category during the 17th edition of the TRANSAT CAFÉ L’OR Le Havre Normandie, held in Fort-de-France Bay.

The duo completed the race on their vessel SVR-Lazartigue in a time of 10 days, 13 hours, 3 minutes, and 58 seconds. They navigated the 5400 nautical mile course between Le Havre and Fort-de-France at an average speed of 21.34 knots on the orthodromic route, covering a total distance of 6490.10 miles at an average speed over the water of 25.65 knots.

LATEST UPDATE – Early this Thursday morning at 2.40hours local time (UTC minus 4 hours) Thomas Coville and Benjamin Schwartz crossed the finish line of the 17th edition of the TRANSAT CAFÉ L’OR Le Havre Normandie.in second place in the ULTIM class in Fort-de-France Bay – Their race time is 10 days, 17 hours, 30 minutes, and 9 seconds. Coville and Schwartz covered the 5 400 miles of the course between Le Havre and Fort-de-France at a speed of 20,97 knots on the great circle route (direct course). They actually sailed 6 591,36 miles at an average speed of 25,60  knots (over the water).

From the early hours of the race, Laperche and Cammas secured their lead. A key moment was the early-night incident involving defending champions Armel Le Cléac’h and Sébastien Josse aboard Maxi Banque Populaire XI, which forced them to make a stoppage for rudder repair. Although Sodebo Ultim 3 and Actual Ultim 4 kept pace in the Bay of Biscay, Laperche and Cammas built a comfortable lead, being the first to enter and exit the Doldrums (Pot-au-noir). This victory marks SVR-Lazartigue’s most prestigious win since its launch in 2021. Additionally, Franck Cammas becomes the first sailor to achieve five wins in this event, adding this latest victory to his previous successes in 2001, 2003, 2007, and 2021.
