Seven days to go until the Cannes Yachting Festival

Only seven days left to complete the transformation of the Vieux Port and Port Canto in Cannes which will accommodate almost 650 boats* recently released from the most prestigious French and international shipyards. The show will open for its 42nd edition on Tuesday 10 September for six days.

From one end to the other of the famous Croisette, the very best international offering of monohull or multihull motorboats and sailing boats will be present and the spotlight will be on Cannes, which, for a week, will become the capital of the luxury yachting industry.

While maintaining its identity and positioning, the year 2019 marks an evolution for the Yachting Festival, which will now revolve around Cannes’ two ports: the Vieux Port will continue to welcome the ultimate in motor boats while Port Canto will become the new showcase for the most beautiful sailing boats, all the while preserving its section dedicated to the event.

Divers, technicians, builders, installers of tents and pontoons, decorators and all the other trades involved in the installation of the show on land and in-water will now step up the pace to turn this idyllic setting into the biggest in-water boating show in Europe.

“A race against time has begun. Several hundred people will be busy during the last week of setting up the show so that everything is ready on Tuesday 10 September at 10 am,” explains Sylvie Ernoult, Director of the Cannes Yachting Festival. “We can’t wait to open our doors so that our visitors have the best experience while discovering the must-have international offering in motorboats and sailing boats. The reorganised Vieux Port will let them “navigate” more easily between the different boat categories as the Cannes Yachting Festival showcases motorboats from 10m to 50m…

“The “Sailing Area” at Port Canto will be a major first and we can’t wait to unveil it to our visitors who will no doubt be impressed by the unique content of this showcase,” continues Sylvie Ernoult “We have also put together several events to recognise sailing in all its richness and diversity: Isabelle Autissier will be there as our Guest of Honour and Armel Le Cleac’h as Ambassador, the 1st edition of The Regatta, the Energy Observer exhibition… So many unprecedented events for the Cannes Yachting Festival.”

A must-see event for luxury yachting for more than 40 years, the Cannes Yachting Festival brings together more than 50,000 visitors from around the world and more than 600 exhibitors every year. All of the major players in the luxury yachting industry will be there to open the season and present more than 210 new releases including 127 worldwide previews.

THE NEW SAILING AREA AT PORT CANTO

With over 500 metres of linear quayside dedicated to monohulls, and the same for multihulls, the new Port Canto spaces will provide a perfect showcase for new sailing boats between 10 and 35 metres in length. The new Sailing Area will offer all the convenience of an exceptional experience where the very latest and finest monohulls and multihulls from around the world will line up for viewing by the visitors.

On land, the Yachting Festival’s loyal “Sailing” exhibitors and the new builders and creators in this sector will share the 4,000 m2 quayside area offered by this new space, double the on-land space that was available in 2018! The shipyards, equipment manufacturers, and service companies working primarily in the sailing sector have large and comfortable spaces in which to welcome their visitors.

With its wide dykes and quays, Port Canto has large walkways throughout the Sailing Space enabling visitors to enjoy a better view of each boat on show in-water on one side, and of each reception stand. Visitors coming from all five continents can discover the ultimate in sailing boats presented by the leading players in the French and international nautical industry.

Visitors, professionals and enthusiasts alike, will find all the services they are used to: a prestigious restaurant whose menu is provided by our partner Maison Dalloyau, a VIP Club in an all-new floating penthouse by Rev House Sea, a press service but also a new village of food trucks for a world tour of flavours, and a champagne bar.

As was the case in the previous years, the “Brokerage” area is located on the Jetée du Phare, the large starboard dyke (on the right) when arriving at Port Canto by sea. For nearly 15 years this space has hosted the leading French and international players in the second-hand luxury yachts market and presents some fifty motor boats and sailing boats of at least 22 metres long and up to 65 metres long this year. Available to buy immediately, these second-hand luxury yachts are also sometimes available to lease.

Since 2018 the “Toys” area has been installed in Port Canto opposite the second-hand luxury yachts, taking advantage of this dyke’s wide spaces to exhibit on-land an increasingly large selection of sport, fun, and nautical activities equipment. This year there is a large collection of jetboards, longboards, and jet skis including several electric motor models and many more.
