Wooden it be nice: Last day of the Australian Wooden Boat Festival

The last day of the Australian Wooden Boat Festival 2019 will see the Admiral’s Sail. The large fleet of tall ships will sail out in company to salute Her Excellency, the Governor of Tasmania aboard the motor launch Egeria, positioned off Regatta Point.

Ships will include Young Endeavour, James Craig, Soren Larsen, One and All plus Tasmanian vessels:Windeward Bound, Lady Nelson, Julie Burgess, Rhona H and Yukon. A magnificent sight indeed.

Speaking with many of the yacht owners it would appear some will make the move back to their home moorings this afternoon. Bureau of Meteorology have issued a strong wind warning for Tuesday with an 80% chance of showers, most likely in the morning, followed by winds from the north at 20 to 30 km/h turning westerly 30 to 45 km/h in the late afternoon.

If you follow the latest goings-on through the Cruising Helmsman Facebook page then you will have seen just some of things to do and see when here. This year I repeated the 'Dogs of the Festival' posts and added a new 'Tattoos of the Festival' as well. Check them out.

Next year I think I will add 'Babies asleep in prams'!

Over the next few months there will be stories obtained from various owners during the four days. There are some great stories.

Either subscribe now or buy at any large, well-stocked newsagents.

In the meantime enjoy the images posted here in the gallery at the top of the page.

If you like what you see and want to get to the 2021 Festival I suggest you book early!

See you there.
