Weather cuts numbers but 245,460 people watch first foiling AC World Series

According to a report on Britain's ITV News, almost a quarter of a million people watched the first America's Cup World Series event in Portsmouth last month. It was half the expected number but obviously affected by the cancellation of racing on the second day owing to high winds. The reported statistics are:

  • 245,460 spectators over the four days in Portsmouth (including practice racing).
  • 108,329 spectators within the Southsea common event site.
  • 25,700 spectators on the water.
  • Big Saturday (25th July) delivers the perfect day with 67,374 spectators onsite.
