Do you own a trailable yacht and want a great weekend away?
Why not join the trailable yacht season opening weekend at Melbourne City Marina.
If you have not had the trailable yacht out on the water for some time, this is the event to kick off the start of another great sailing season in the company of other trailable yacht sailors.
Victorian trailable yachts are once again gathering in Melbourne’s Docklands for the annual season opening event on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October. The event builds on the success of the last seven years where dozens of sailors have attended a dinner to celebrate the start of the sailing season and participate in the Cruising Helmsman magazine Bob Couper Memorial Nautical Trivia Quiz.
Bob Couper was a trailable yacht legend and a regular contributor to Cruising Helmsman with his column, `The Ideas Locker’ and his later book `Cruising Essentials’. The sailing quiz is now being conducted annually in honour of the legacy he left behind. Thanks to Cruising Helmsman for their continued support of this event.
If you do not have a trailable yacht, but have ideas about getting into this easy sailing experinece, Sunday 20 October is a ‘Discover Sailing’ day on the water of Victoria Harbour and the general public is invited to come and try sailing on a range of trailable yachts. The event is being coordinated by Australian Sailing’s Victorian Trailable Yacht Division with assistance from clubs and associations.
The Discover Sailing event at Docklands is free for the general public to attend and provides a great opportunity to learn more about joining the social trailable yacht community. Information about learn to sail courses and some specific trailable yacht syllabus modules being developed will also be available at the Discover Sailing event.
