Sandberg PalmaVela concludes a highly competitive edition of La Larga

The 22nd edition of the Sandberg PalmaVela concluded with exciting results in La Larga, the offshore prologue. This year’s race saw participation from 35 teams across six categories, showcasing a competitive environment on the Mediterranean waters.

The event unfolded over an impressive distance of nearly 300 nautical miles, where the fleets faced variable wind conditions, initially benefiting from strong gusts which morphed into calmer breezes during the early hours of the last day.

Tilakkhana II, skippered by Pascale Decaux, claimed victory in the IRC category with an elapsed time of 29 hours, 52 minutes, and 31 seconds. This not only secured them the overall win but also beat competitors like Luce Guida on Liberty and Jean-Michel Caye on Aquila.

In ORC 0, the Swan 56 Intrigue, helmed by Joaquín Verona, took first place after time correction, finishing the course three hours after Tilakkhana II.

The ORC 1 category was won by Caro, led by Sven Heyden, who managed a remarkable completion time of around 37 hours. Expression of London and Vertigo finished second and third respectively.

Kine emerged victorious in the ORC 2-3 class, wrapping up in just over 37 hours, while Hydra-HM Hospitales secured the ORC A2 win after a tightly contested race, with only 16 minutes separating the top two boats after time corrections.

The Mini 6.50 class saw Ginjol of Felip Moll hold off competition for the victory, finishing just three minutes ahead of Magikarp.
