Sailors rescued from sinking yacht after hitting breakwater

A TRIO was rescued from a sinking yacht after it crashed into Plymouth's breakwater.

The Lady Larissa sustained a hole to the front of the vessel and a missing rudder when it hit the east end of the breakwater last night.

“It started at 11.50pm when we got the first call. The yacht reported it was taking on water and facing difficulty,” said a spokesman for Brixham Coastguard.

The coastguard put out a broadcast for any vessels nearby to assist and a MoD police boat responded and stayed with the yacht until the RNLI lifeboats arrived
