The first glimpse of the Valencia SailGP Race Stadium was unveiled at a celebratory event on March 23, 2026. This venue, located at Valencia’s marina, will showcase thrilling competitions in September 2026, drawing in around 10,000 ticketed fans for a weekend filled with high-speed racing excitement, gourmet food, and captivating entertainment.
This inaugural event marks the Rolex SailGP Championship’s first time at Valencia, following four successful years in Cádiz, and is expected to present some of the most exhilarating racing on water.
Attendees included SailGP CEO and co-founder Sir Russell Coutts alongside local dignitaries, such as Mayor Maria José Catalá, President of the Provincial Council of Valencia Vicent Mompó, and President of the Generalitat Juanfran Pérez Llorca, who welcomed the exciting new addition to the city’s sporting landscape.
Team Los Gallos, represented by driver Diego Botín, strategist Nicole Van der Velden and wing trimmer Florian Trittel, expressed enthusiasm for racing in front of local supporters, highlighting the personal connection to their home venue.
Sir Russell Coutts elaborated on Valencia’s significance as a host city, stating it embodies the spirit of SailGP with its waterfront ideal for fast-paced racing and vibrant sporting culture. He noted that this event is the beginning of a three-season partnership that aims to establish a major sporting fixture with lasting benefits.
Diego Botín shared his excitement, “Having a home event is always very exhilarating and affects our performance positively. This space almost in front of the racecourse is surreal. We eagerly anticipate the races in September.”
Mayor María José Catalá emphasised Valencia’s commitment to sports and innovation, expressing joy at hosting such a high-profile event that aligns with the city’s values and ambitions.
Vicent Mompó reinforced the event’s potential to elevate Valencia’s status on the international sailing stage, while President Juanfran Pérez Llorca acknowledged it as a pivotal chance to grow the sports industry within the Valencian Community.
