SailGP confirms long-term commitment to racing in Germany, Australia, Brazil, USA, UK and UAE

SailGP has unveiled an exciting three-season commitment to host the Germany Sail Grand Prix in Sassnitz, with events scheduled for August 22-23, 2026, and August 21-22, 2027. This announcement follows the success of Sassnitz’s inaugural event, which featured a thrilling debut where the Germany SailGP Team, backed by Deutsche Bank, won the first race, while ROCKWOOL Denmark set a new speed record of 103.93 km/h.

Germany is now among several key locations that SailGP has secured for its global racing calendar, aiming to foster stable and impactful racing experiences that deepen local community ties. The series will also continue its presence in Perth, Australia, through 2028, responding to robust local support and demand.

SailGP is set to make its debut in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the Enel Rio Sail Grand Prix confirmed for 2026 and 2027, further enhancing its international footprint. Other established venues include Bermuda, which will host races until 2028, and New York City, scheduled for May 30-31, 2026, and June 5-6, 2027.

After a successful event in Portsmouth that welcomed 20,000 fans, SailGP has confirmed its return to Portsmouth on July 25-26, 2026, with another event scheduled for July 24-25, 2027. Additionally, Dubai will remain a key venue in 2027, reflecting SailGP’s commitment to the Middle East.

SailGP CEO, Sir Russell Coutts, emphasized that these long-term commitments are essential for enhancing the championship’s global profile and delivering consistent world-class experiences. He noted the significant economic and social impact that SailGP events have on host cities, citing that nine out of ten fans at the Portsmouth event were visitors who contributed to the local economy.

As the championship progresses through its fifth season, SailGP is laying the groundwork for a dynamic future, focusing on sustainability, tourism, and innovation alongside thrilling racing. Upcoming events include the ROCKWOOL France Sail Grand Prix in Saint-Tropez on September 12-13, followed by the inaugural Rolex Switzerland Sail Grand Prix in Geneva on September 20-21.
