Porto Cervo, 7 June 2026. The Royal Ocean Racing Club has secured victory in the 2026 Range Rover Sardinia Cup, finishing ahead of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and the RORC Gold team. In the individual class standings, James Neville’s Ino Veritas claimed first place in the Sardinia Cup 1 class, while Niklas Zennström’s Ran topped the Sardinia Cup 2 class.
This prestigious regatta, organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda since 1978, made its return this year after a 14-year hiatus, with support from Range Rover. The event took place from 31 May to 7 June, with the next edition scheduled for 4 to 11 June 2028, alternating with the Admiral’s Cup, which is hosted by the Royal Ocean Racing Club in odd-numbered years.
The final day featured a scenic coastal race in 8 to 10 knots of breeze. Both SC1 and SC2 classes started from Porto Cervo, sailing upwind to round the Isola dei Monaci before heading downwind towards the Tre Monti shoal, covering a total of approximately 16 miles.
In the SC1 class, Jolt 3 finished strongly, winning the day ahead of Ino Veritas and RocketNikka. Meanwhile, Django JP took top honours in SC2, followed by Ran and Nola.
YCCS Commodore Andrea Recordati congratulated the RORC team on their victory and expressed gratitude to all competitors and the institutional partner Range Rover. He acknowledged the exceptional weather conditions that graced the event, celebrating the regatta’s successful return.
During the awards ceremony, the Sardinia Cup trophy was presented to the RORC team, with a special trophy awarded to the best Italian team, Django, owned by Giovanni Lombardi Stronati, in memory of Bruno Calandriello.
The YCCS will celebrate World Oceans Day with a Clean Beach Day at Capriccioli beach on 8 June, supported by the Municipality of Arzachena. Racing resumes at the YCCS with the Rolex TP52 World Championship from 15 to 20 June 2026, which also serves as the second leg of the 52 Super Series.
