Many of us have been wondering what Pete Burling would get up to after he recently announced that he was leaving Emirates Team New Zealand. Well, in an announcement yesterday, we all found out:
“Excited to be joining Luna Rossa for the 38th America’s Cup.
I’ve always loved racing against @lunarossachallenge, and now to join this iconic team is a real honour.
This is an amazing opportunity to keep pushing myself at the highest level of the sport, while continuing to lead @sailgpnzl Black Foils and support the work we’re doing with @itsliveocean at home.
Thank you everyone for your support.“
I guess the next thing to find out is whether he will get to sail for the team, given that we still only have a draft protocol and the national and no-poaching rules are yet to be clarified.
