Members of he Pendragon Sailing Team from North America recently flew to New Zealand for the launching of Pendragon VI, a new Davidson 69. Designer Laurie Davidson worked alongside a design team from Dibley Marine, an NZ-based naval architecture firm. It's reported that Dibley Marine used a number of design tools for this project including Maxsurf, which is a powerful three dimensional surface modelling program; and WinDesign, a yacht performance prediction program (VPP) which allows the team to evaluate and analyze a yachts performance while still in the design stages. Reports suggest the Pendragon team are very happy with the early sea trials on Auckland Harbour, with further trialing to continue. More details at www.dibleymarine.com.
