Liz Wardley to resume SolOceans on Saturday

A week after the start of her unscheduled pit stop at Port-La-Forêt, the SolOceans One-design (16 metres / 52.2 feet) steered by Australian Liz Wardley was relaunched this morning. The boat had been undergoing repairs after hitting an unknown object, believed to be a large fish, shortly after setting off on her round world quest.

This afternoon's sailing session is dedicated to restarting the scientific equipment on board. On Thursday and Friday, the sailing sessions will be dedicated to preparing this new start towards the Southern Hemisphere.

Liz will resume her navigation on the Around-the-world Reference Tour of the SolOceans – OceanoScientific® Campaign 2009-2010 on Saturday 12 December at 1.00pm sharp (1200UT). She will cross a start line located at the Linuen Buoy, off the Beg-Meil semaphore, outside the Bay of Concarneau (Brittany – France). A moderate East – Northeast breeze is forecasted. Liz might then be able to quickly leave the Bay of Biscay.
