Mornington Yacht Club (MYC) is set to host one of Port Phillip’s largest junior and youth sailing weekends with the Sayers & Co Schnapper Point Regatta taking place on 14-15 February 2026. The event celebrates various sailing levels, bringing together beginners, teens, seasoned sailors, and high-performance classes.
Melissa Warren, Sailing Manager at MYC, highlighted the inclusive spirit of Schnapper Point, stating it offers a supportive environment for all participants, from those embarking on their first race to those aiming for top positions. The regatta aims to foster confidence and excitement among sailors as they compete and learn.
The 2026 regatta will feature Optimists across Green to Open Fleet categories, together with ILCA 4/6/7, 420s, 29ers, and multiple monohull fleets. Notably, it will also host the 2026 Musto Skiff Australian National Championships and the 2026 International B14 Victorian State Championship during the same weekend.
MYC will transform into a vibrant hub during the regatta, with music, food, and socialising opportunities, ensuring an enjoyable atmosphere off the water. The Green Fleet will cater specifically to new racers, offering short courses and supportive guidance to help them build their sailing skills and confidence.
Will McKenzie, Head Coach at MYC, expressed joy in witnessing young sailors discovering their capabilities and looking forward to progressing in the sport. With favourable sea breezes and a scenic waterfront, Mornington is ideally positioned to provide excellent racing experiences.
MYC’s long-standing tradition of hosting this regatta resonates with families and fosters friendships, making it an integral part of the local sailing culture, as noted by Commodore Andrew Parker. The regatta encapsulates everything MYC stands for.
