The “Doctor” has already claimed a coupe of victims before racing has even started. Ex-Bonds Flying Roo, Chris Draper had to be taken to hospital for checks after getting thrown out of his cockpit and into the trampoline face first. Draper missed the Wednesday training session, giving local favourite and reserve sailor Dave Gilmour some valuable boat time, but he was back on-board for Thursday’s session.
The second victim was Spain’s F50, which suffered damage to the board cases and foils during a gybe. The Tech Team are going to be working overtime to try and get the boat ready for this Season 6 opener.
Let’s hope that’s the last of the body and boat damage for the weekend and we can sit back and enjoy the action. It’s going to be awesome.
