The new GME GX620 hand- held marine VHF transceiver offers many of the features of the larger 25 watt fixed-mount marine VHF radios, including channel scan, instant Channel 16 access, dual and triple watch. The compact 3Watt GX620 is ideal for dinghies or tenders that need to keep in touch with the “mother ship” or small boats that don't have electrical systems or sufficient space for a fixed-mount radio.
Operation is made simple by the six clearly labelled buttons on the front panel and the volume/power knob maximises simplicity of operation. Even when wearing gloves, the large buttons are easy to operate. A large, clear LCD with backlighting and backlit buttons makes night time operation equally simple.

Raymarine launches AIS receiver
Raymarine has launched its first dedicated AIS receiver. The AIS250 is a compact unit that provides Automatic Identification System (AIS) reception of data over VHF. This technology enables the voiceless exchange of navigation information between any vessel or shore station equipped with AIS receiver.
The Raymarine AIS250 is a dual channel receiver with a VHF splitter. It is capable of monitoring AIS Class A and Class B transmissions, and links to the existing VHF on board through the same antenna and cabling.
It provides constantly updated position information and identification of vessels in the vicinity. Using the Raymarine AIS250, this information is compatible with Raymarine's E and C series, enabling AIS data to be fully shown on Raymarine multifunction displays and radar screens.
It has the advantage of being able to ‘'see’' around and over hills and other obstructions, thereby eliminating the blind spots. Dynamic information such as speed, rate of turn, course and heading is updated every 2-10 seconds, while additional static information, such as vessel name, MMSI number, radio call sign, type of ship and cargo, and even destination is updated every six minutes.

“We did our research to see what else was in the market, and realiszed there was nothing.”

SLAM Boa Bunda
SLAM tested their latest gear at the recent Etchells Mid Winter Championships in Mooloolaba. The team used the seamless Zip top and pant under the spray shorts with the Boa Bunda waterproof pant and RC spray top as the outer layer. The gear worked well in keeping the team at peak performance and comfortable over the regatta in choppy seas and cool (16- ‘ 18 degrees) breezes.

Skip Lissiman said after the event: ‘Wwe found the SLAM gear was just perfect to get the right mix between comfort and ease of movement around the Etchells. We have found that most sailing gear can’t get that mix right, particularly when getting the cold breeze sailing into the wind and then with the hard work pumping the boat downwind getting too hot when the apparent wind drops. B, but the SLAM gear was just perfect.’
