Antigua Racing Cup – Class Winners Honoured

The final day of the Antigua Racing Cup took place on April 12, 2026, in perfect sailing conditions off the south coast of Antigua. Two races were held for all classes on windward-leeward courses, ranging from 8 to 12 nautical miles, concluding the inaugural regatta on a high note.

The event featured a stable breeze from the east, ranging between 12 to 17 knots, which kept competitors on their toes as they managed sail selection amidst subtle shifts and gusts. This setting contributed to an exciting finale, showcasing close racing with fine margins and intense competition.

CSA 1

In the CSA 1 class, Dan Gribble’s Tripp 65 Custom Prevail (USA) achieved twin victories on the final day. In Race 8, it outpaced John McMonigal’s Oyster 82 Zig Zag (GBR) by a notable 10 minutes and 16 seconds, followed closely by Lennart Davidsson’s S&S 79 Kialoa III. Race 9 saw Prevail triumph again, winning by 6 minutes and 49 seconds ahead of Kialoa III, affirming its dominance in the division.

CSA 2

CSA 2 witnessed thrilling contests, with Steve Rigby’s Grand Soleil 46 Belladonna (GBR) securing a close win in Race 8 by just 1 minute and 6 seconds over RP37 Warthog (ANT), with Rikki (USA) trailing by a mere 7 seconds. The following race saw Warthog take the lead, winning by 2 minutes and 30 seconds over Belladonna, who remained in third.

CSA 3

In CSA 3, Poul Hoj Jensen’s Danish Blue (ANT) concluded the regatta impressively with two additional wins. It achieved victories in both races, defeating Katy Campbell’s Panacea X (CAN) by 1 minute and 38 seconds in Race 8 and winning Race 9 by 2 minutes and 52 seconds against Bernie Evan-Wong’s High Tension (ANT).

CSA 4

The CSA 4 class final races had Ashley Rhodes’ Melges 24 Whiplash (ANT) clinching both wins as well, with marginal margins of victory in both instances, showcasing its prowess amidst competitive challengers.

Race Officer Neil Andrew expressed satisfaction with the overall success of the regatta, drawing on his extensive experience in race management. He highlighted the event’s intensity and race-focused nature, noting the high standard of sailing and the absence of protests, marking a successful inaugural event.
