Yarrawonga calls for entries for Australia Day regatta

Lake Mulwala has returned to its former glory with the weed being largely controlled by the Murray-Darling Basin Authority over the winter months. Entries have already started rolling in and the International Canoe Association is conducting a Rendezvous during the Regatta.

Yarrawonga Yacht Club's Australia Day Regatta is the perfect place for Associations to meet for a more relaxed racing environment after the Christmas Nationals period. It is as centrally located to Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide as you could get in Australia. The grassed, powered camping area for tents and caravans at the Yacht Club are right up to the waters edge and this makes watching the water activities a pleasure. There are two OTB launching bays from grass into the sandy bottom bays. For the trailable yachts there is a sheltered marina that gets plenty of shade in the afternoon from many of the trees that shade the camping area. Or you could just take your boat out on the yacht club's concrete boat ramp in the marina area.

It is the perfect place for children to learn to sail, windsurf, paddleboard or just play around in the waist deep water for about 40m from the bank. The event is fully catered for and canteen facilities are available at the club so you don't have to worry about cooking. Free transport is available to the nearby clubs (neat casual dress rules apply).

On the regatta side there are five races, three back-to-back on Saturday starting at 1300hr, and two races back-to-back on Sunday morning starting at 0930hrs. This gives you plenty of time to travel and enjoy what the Yarrawonga Yacht Club has to offer. If a class can get more than six entries they will sail in their own division, otherwise mixed divisions will be made up prior to the first race depending on entries.

Race entry is $35 for Adults and $10 Juniors or Casual race entry is $10 per race. Camping fees are $6.50 per person per night and primary school aged children are free. Onsite camping is only available from Friday to Monday and no dogs are allowed.
