Sydney to Hobart in Dec/Jan Australian Sailing + Yachting

It is that time of year again. Yachts from around the world head south for the great race. This year there will be five maxis on the Sydney to Hobart start line including Jim Clark's new weapon, Comanche. We have everything you need to know about the race and the battle for line honours in the Dec/Jan issue.

Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a navigator on one of the Hobart front runners? Tom Addis has won both line honours and corrected time in the race and shares his insights with Bob Ross.

While navigating has evolved so much over the last few years and information is becoming more and more accessible, we need to make sure we don't push the rules too far. Check out Information Overload, navigator Ross Vickers explains what you can and cannot look at when you are racing and what is considered outside assistance.

The Extreme Sailing Series is coming to Sydney! There will be so much action around Mrs Macquarie's chair and even more on the water in front of the Opera House. Make sure you check out our guide on what to see, who is racing and all things Extreme.

Glenn Ashby has been competing in the Extreme Sailing Series with Emirates Team New Zealand and while he was in Europe he spoke to Oliver Hartas about the America's Cup, sailing in general and what it takes to succeed.

We also have all the usual columns too. Make sure you check out this issue. There is something in there for everyone from a dinghy sailor to a ocean racer.

Happy sailing.
