It is with great regret and disappointment that the Sunshine Coast Yacht Club Management Committee advises that the 2021 SCOR regatta and the B2SC feeder race from Brisbane have had to be cancelled.
Entries have been open for a couple of months and are exceptionally low and there is little prospect of a viable fleet for either event.
There are many aspects to a complex organising process with commitments needing to be made to: potential competitors, our professional PRO, cooperating clubs, the Mooloolaba Marina, regatta volunteers, our sponsors, etc.
Unfortunately, there is currently just not sufficient involvement in yacht racing on the Sunshine Coast to support an ocean racing regatta such as SCOR this year.
The uncertainty in planning and committing to events in the current COVID climate has had a major impact on many social and competitive events run by clubs in general.
