Sail Inc. wins 12ft Skiff Upper Harbour Championship

Lane Cove 12ft Sailing Skiff Club hosted the first interclub of the 12ft Skiff Calendar on Saturday. A 15knot 2nd sail Southeast breeze greeted the fleet for the Upper Harbour Championship, with Lincoln Crowne (Jonathon Temple/Richard Jones) and Red Energy (Murray Press/ Mark Muirhead) leading the fleet out of the river and the work across too Balmain.

Sail Inc (Nick Press/ Andrew ‘Noddy’ Hay) chased hard to take the lead on the two-sail reach around snapper island. The fierce fight for the podium position amongst LLC Asia Pacific, Red Energy, Your Move Conveyancing (David Winning/ Joe Bourne), Terms & Conditions (Brad Phillips/ Oscar Wilson) and Sydney Sailmakers (Cameron McDonald/ Brendan Jenkins) allowed Sail Inc to establish a healthy lead which they held all the way to the finish.

T&C held 3rd for the majority if the day on the difficult course before a capsize in a spinnaker drop pushed them back in the fleet. Red Energy held 2nd position until the penultimate leg until Sydney Sailmakers produced a sensational downwind leg to come from 4th to 2nd. Sydney Sailmakers went on to capsize during the spinnaker set in sight of the finish line allowing Red Energy, YMC and LCC to pass.

Your Move Conveyancing produced their best before in recent times with 3rd on scratch and 1st place on Handicap. The next event on the ’12s’ calendar is the Parramatta River Championship, hosted by Abbotsford 12ft Flying Squadron on Saturday 11th November.
