Sail Expo, Australia’s largest dedicated sailing show, will take place at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club (RPAYC), Newport NSW, on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October 2026, following a highly positive response from showgoers and exhibitors at last year’s event.
Following the success of the Sail Expo in 2025, the 2026 event will once again bring together the sailing community, marine industry and the wider public for a free weekend celebrating sailing in all its forms.
More than 30 sailing yachts will be on display in the waterfront setting of the RPAYC, offering visitors the chance to step aboard and see a diverse range of yachts up close. The fleet will span different types and styles of sailing, from cruising and family yachts to performance boats and catamarans.
The yachts will be complemented by a wide range of onshore exhibitors, covering the products, services and expertise that support sailors and boat owners. Visitors will be able to meet marine industry specialists, discover new equipment and technology, and get advice across everything from sails and rigging to electronics, engines, safety, insurance and other aspects of yacht ownership.
For those considering yacht ownership but not yet ready to take the step into full ownership, yacht share operators will also be on display, offering an opportunity to explore shared ownership as another way to enjoy the benefits of having a yacht.
Sail Expo is also an ideal opportunity to ask questions about sailing, whether you have years of experience or have never sailed before. With sailors, yacht owners and marine professionals available throughout the event, visitors can get practical answers, and explore different pathways into sailing in an informal environment.
The weekend will include yacht inspection tours, learn to sail information, live entertainment and food and beverage, creating a welcoming event for sailors, families and anyone interested in spending time on the water.
Commodore of the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, Julia Hornsby, said:
“The success of last year’s Sail Expo held at Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club demonstrated just how strong the appetite is for a dedicated sailing event in Australia. It was fantastic to see sailors, boat owners, and their families along with industry professionals, and those considering their first yacht come together for what was a truly outstanding event.”
“The response to last year’s event was incredibly encouraging, and the Sail Expo has now firmly established itself in sailors’ diaries as an event not to be missed. The combination of a spectacular waterfront setting, an impressive display of sailing yachts and a strong focus on the sailing community makes it a very special event.”
“We are therefore delighted to announce Sail Expo 2026 and look forward to building on the momentum of last year’s success. Sail Expo 2026 promises to be even bigger and better, and we are excited to welcome sailors, their families and boating enthusiasts from across Australia back to the RPAYC for a fun and exciting day showcasing everything sailing”
Graham Raspass, a Sail Expo spokesperson, said the event was designed to appeal to the entire sailing community.
“Sail Expo is a great opportunity to get close to the boats, meet the people behind the industry and ask questions about sailing. If you are considering buying a yacht, exploring the different options available, or simply curious about getting out on the water, there will be people on hand to share their knowledge and help you discover more about sailing.
“With the wide range of new yachts on display, and a broad range of exhibitors on shore, there is plenty to explore, from cruising and racing to yacht ownership, crewing, equipment, and simply finding out more about sailing.”
Sail Expo 2026 will run from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October 2026 at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, Newport.
Entry is free, with free parking available at the Club’s Crystal Bay Street car park. Visitors can also arrive by water, with a complimentary tender service operating between RPAYC and selected Pittwater public wharves.
With a perfect waterfront setting, an extensive range of marine exhibitors on shore and activities for the whole family, Sail Expo 2026 will offer a unique opportunity to explore, experience, and learn about sailing.
