LANZAROTE TO ANTIGUA
The 2026 RORC Transatlantic Race delivered outstanding performances across a demanding and complex Atlantic course, showcasing innovation, preparation and seamanship at the highest level of offshore racing.
The event included overall and class victories under IRC, as well as record-breaking performances by multihulls and monohulls, reflecting the depth and quality of both corinthian and professional fleets. However, the event was tinged with tragedy, highlighting the inherent risks of ocean racing and underscoring the importance of safety, expertise, and mutual support at sea.
The race saw the overall winner, the Mach 50 Palanad 4 (FRA), owned and skippered by Olivier Magre and his son Antoine. They achieved a personal milestone with their victory, building upon their family legacy in sailing.
In the multihull category, Jason Carroll’s MOD70 Argo (USA) set a new race record with a time of 4 days, 23 hours, 51 minutes and 15 seconds, narrowly defeating Erik Maris’ MOD70 Zoulou (FRA).
The monohull category was led by the Baltic 111 Raven, commanded by Damien Durchon, which claimed line honours and a new race record of 6 days, 22 hours, 27 minutes and 47 seconds.
James Neville’s Carkeek 45 Ino Noir (GBR) exhibited remarkable grit to finish second overall on corrected time.
In the IRC Two class, the J/125 Jackknife (GBR) demonstrated the prowess of an older boat and a corinthian crew by finishing third overall and winning its division.
Kornog 2 (FRA) triumphed in the double-handed category, while Linnea Aurora, a 128ft superyacht, excelled in its division, completing the crossing in 11 days and 13 hours.
Maxitude, coached by Xavier Bellouard, earned the Yacht Club de France Trophy by finishing the race in 10 days and 12 hours, achieving a long-held dream of crossing the Atlantic competitively.
The race was dedicated to the crew of Walross 4 (GER) in honour of a crew member lost during the event, maintaining focus on safety and camaraderie amongst team members.
The next edition of the RORC Transatlantic Race will commence in January 2027, further reinforcing its status as a premier offshore racing event.
