Quantum Pacific enters SailGP with acquisition of Los Gallos

Quantum Pacific has made a significant move in the world of sailing by acquiring the Los Gallos SailGP Team, marking a pivotal moment for both the championship and Spanish sport. This transaction represents the largest investment ever in a sailing team in Spain, reflecting the growing popularity of SailGP as it establishes itself as a global sports property.

As a long-term investor in sports, Quantum Pacific views SailGP as one of the most appealing sectors, given its expanding global audience. The acquisition is aligned with the group’s strategic focus on the Iberian region, showcasing Quantum Pacific’s commitment to harness the potential of Spanish sports.

Los Gallos is entering this new era after a stellar performance, having clinched the Season 4 Championship. The team features notable talents, including Olympic Champions Diego Botín and Florian Trittel, under the guidance of strategist Nicole van der Velden. Their participation is vital in one of SailGP’s most passionate and impactful markets.

Now part of Quantum Pacific’s investment portfolio that includes top teams in football and cycling, Los Gallos’ transition into SailGP is a natural progression for Quantum Pacific. This move is positioned as a growth opportunity, affirming the company’s long-term vision for competitive sports in the Iberian region and beyond.

SailGP Managing Director Andrew Thompson expressed excitement about this acquisition, regarding it as a significant milestone that enhances the championship’s profile in Spain, which has a rich sporting culture and enthusiastic fans.

Quantum Pacific CEO Antoine Bonnier noted that they are eager to see Los Gallos succeed, emphasizing the importance of the Iberian market and the potential of SailGP as a dynamic sports platform. He believes that they are equipped not only to compete but also to create a lasting legacy in this race format.

Antonio Alquézar, CEO of Los Gallos, echoed this sentiment, stating that Quantum Pacific’s expertise in sports will enhance their performance capabilities as they look to build on their previous successes.

With this acquisition of Los Gallos, New Zealand are the remaining SailGP owned team, with 12 out of 13 teams now sold. As the global championship resumes, it will continue to enjoy strong support in Spain, which is set to host SailGP events, including the upcoming debut in Valencia on September 5-6, 2026.

In conjunction with this new chapter, Quantum Pacific will see key figures, Amit Singh and Harry Odling, join the board of Los Gallos to guarantee ongoing commitment. Financial advisory support was provided by Tifosy Capital, with Uría Menéndez serving as legal counsel.
