Port de Andratx will make the Sofia even bigger

The 55th Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels will introduce Port de Andratx as its sixth venue, adding disabled sailing to the competition programme. This marks a significant expansion for the prestigious regatta, which is set to take place from March 24 to 29.

For the first time, competitors will race in the waters of Port de Andratx, approximately 20 nautical miles west of Palma, where the majority of the event is typically held. The Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx (CVPA) will host the Hansa 303 single and double class regattas, marking the return of disabled sailing to the event. This move is celebrated by CVPA’s sports director, Juanjo Beltrán, who emphasised the importance of inclusion in the sport.

Port de Andratx joins other venues such as Club Náutic Arenal, Playa de Palma, and Real Club Náutico de Palma, contributing to the diverse structure of the event. The competition at Port de Andratx will be part of the 2026 Spanish Cup for Disabled Sailing and Inclusive Sailing, with the awards ceremony set to occur alongside other classes.

Beltrán highlighted the talent present in the CVPA’s sailing team, including past world champions and current national champions, who are eager to compete on home waters against an international fleet. The event is organised by the Bahía Activa foundation and enjoys support from World Sailing and local government entities.
