Ocean Dynamics and Mount Gay Airlie Beach Race Week 2024 goes green

As entries continue to flow in, it is with great pride Whitsunday Sailing Club (WSC) announces that Ocean Dynamics and Mount Gay Airlie Beach Race Week is going off the grid and green, courtesy of event support sponsor, Mobile Power Trailers.

Proudly Australian, Mobile Power Trailers provides pioneering, cutting edge portable power solutions with its advanced solar and batteries trailers. The trailer-mounted systems are slim-lined, offering portable renewable power that folds away effortlessly for transport. All power trailers are customisable and made to order.

Mobile Power Trailers came into existence through recognising limitations of traditional energy options. Pooling resources from years of experience in the solar industry, the company provides reliable, sustainable and much more efficient power solutions that will revolutionise the way Australians live and work.

And this is what competitors, family, friends and locals will find when they arrive at the Club this year.

Adam Janczyk, a Queensland based entrepreneur and businessman who wants us all to live a more-eco-friendly life, says: “As a passionate and veteran member of the national sailing community, I am absolutely thrilled to have received the opportunity to work with Whitsunday Sailing Club through my business, Mobile Power Trailers and take Airlie Beach Race Week off the grid and transform it into a green event in 2024.”

“This is not only a first for the Club, but a world first for an event transitioning from traditional power source to a green solution by choice. It is our hope that this incredible event assists in showing the way for other clubs, events, businesses and organisations to approach and plan their events with a more sustainable outlook.”

Going green is just one of myriad changes ABRW organisers, WSC has put in place this year and the Club’s President, Terry Archer, could not be more pleased.

“The partnership with Adam and his team at Mobile Power Trailers will allow the Regatta Festival Village to operate Off Grid, for the duration of the event. This is another great initiative of our regatta team to make positive changes to the event we love,” Archer declared.

Meanwhile, in the early stages, entries have already surpassed 70, with Performance Cruising and Multihull Racing entries leading the way.

Among the entrants is Janczyk, who will skipper an MC38, Mobile Power Trailers. Originally from Sydney, Janczyk grew up on the waters of Pittwater where he sailed in the RPAYC’s Youth Development program which has produced the likes of Jimmy Spithill of America’s Cup fame.

“While we will have a dedicated team and infrastructure on the mainland to ensure the Club and event operate smoothly, Mobile Power Trailers will also have a strong presence on the water following the entry of the Mobile Power Trailers MC38 yacht.

“I have been fortunate to compete in the Airlie Beach event for over a decade, it’s an event I am very fond of and we can’t wait to get out on the water and mix it against some of the best sailors from across Australia and the World.”

Spectators will also thrill to the sight of watching the fast Extreme 40s and other big, fast multihulls out racing on Pioneer Bay and threading their way through the breathtaking Whitsunday islands.

The same applies to the cruisers whose sheer numbers and colourful spinnakers make a breathtaking sight. Always among the early entries and returning again are John and Kim Clinton with Holy Cow! The Sydney couple cruise their Beneteau Oceanis 50 with the cow patch headsail up north every year where they are well-known personalities on the northern regatta circuit – John of multi-award winning Wolverines fame.

Locally, regulars on the return include Mal Robertson with Eureka II. New to the event are the likes of Malcolm Roe and his Swan 45, Amazingrace (NSW).

Ocean Dynamics and Mount Gay Airlie Beach Race Week 2024 enjoys continued support from the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland and is a feature on the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar.
