Mummified body of solo sailor found on dismasted yacht

The mystery of the yacht that was discovered drifting in the Pacific Ocean by the Clipper crew on board LMAX Exchange in January has been solved after Phillipine fishermen spotted the Sun Magic 44 Sayo and alerted local police.

Crew members from LMAX Exchange boarded the boat and discovered the mummified corpse of the skipper, Manfred Fritz Bajorat, at his navigation station. They reported the find to the US Coast Guard but were asked not to make the discovery of the body known until next-of-kin had been informed.

Christopher Rivas was fishing with a friend 40nm off the coast of Barobo when they spotted the Sayo. It was towed to the town where police revealed details of the grisly find. They reported that they found a note to Bajorat's wife Claudia, who died of cancer in 2010, beside the body.
